The Beginning
The
day started at 7 in the evening with darkness. Not the darkness that she feels
every day when words would fly out of her mouth, as much as she wished they
wouldn’t, but literal darkness. It was black. She had just awakened from her evening nap, as directed by her doctor, and
her curtains were closed and her lights were off. “I never TURN MY LIGHTS OF!”
screamed Temple. Either someone was in her apartment with her, or the power was out. She went on a tangent. She
couldn’t see anything. She was mad and stumping and trying to find her way through her
room to get to the curtains. It probably would help if her “SHIT!” yelled
Temple. She had shuffled onto a lifted floorboard and stubbed her toe like she
had done every time she awakens from her daily nap. Eventually she got to the
window. She slung it open, trying to get some light, and the rod fell down. She was pissed off! and still no light. She felt along the flakey walls to feel for her unsteady light switch. she found the switch and flipped it a few times, and still she had no lights. She felt along the unsanded door and searched for a door knob. She got to the living room. She walked onto of the old coffee table to avoid the obstructed floor and ran straight for the door. She exited and walked down the long Anyway, Temple, still heated, felt her way down to the front office trying to get answers.
